Meet our Volunteer: Jules a tutor at Makhaza Branch, Western Cape

Jules has been working as a tutor at Makhaza for the past 2 years. She is originally from Italy and relocated to South Africa some 2 years ago, after studying and working in different countries. She currently works at a language school as an office coordinator. In the past she has worked as a local coordinator for a youth cultural exchanges program, as a nanny, as interpreter and translator and in the fundraising department of an international NGO. She has been volunteering for a few months at the Makhaza branch with IkamvaYouth tutoring English and supporting with tutoring of humanities (visual arts, geography, history, natural sciences, etc).

She believes that Ikamva is a brilliant and very effective organization and she finds it enjoyable and rewarding to work with an energetic team of staff and tutors. “I believe it’s always important to support others and to pay forward the help received in the past. Tutoring with Ikamva is a very rewarding experience which allows me to learn new things every week and at the same time pay a small part in the academic journey of a number of determined young learners.” – Jules Makhaza Tutor
